Re: Joining the betta owners :)
Is it normal behaviour for him to leap completely out of the water as soon as I put my hand in with food!!!, he took tetra prima out of my fingers this morning before I got my hand near the surface, he totally cleared the water to take it!! impressive jump, scared the dooberies out of me though I thought he was going to jump out and the water level is about 3-4" off the top.

Yes, he was always the most feisty at feeding time
They are good jumpers, although I don't see them do it all that often. I guess he really, really likes his food

I have a jumper too. As soon as he sees me approaching his tank with food he's waiting and then when I start to feed he jumps out to grab it. He's jumped straight out of his container more than once. Luckily he's being temporarily floated in my main tank so no problems.

Frustrating morning trying desperately to get a picture of Dudley, it must be the window to the right thowing too much light into the room for the camera to get dudley in focus these are the best two out of the lot

Did a wc and clean up of dudley's tank, omg what a little pest lol lol, I think I am going to get a smaller syphon for his tank as I was terrified he was going up the hose even wiggling my fingers at him he was not phased or swam away lol

Yup! Sounds about right XD He has to make absolutely sure that you're not food!
Re: Joining the betta owners :)
Dudley is getting fat . I am going to have to move him from the weather loach adults tank to another one. The cheeky little fella keeps swimming down with the sinking pellets I feed the weather loach and eating them. He really struggles to swallow them, this is with the crumb food I sprinkle on the top, once he has finished gutsing as many pellets as he can before the loach smell them, he is up the top polishing off his food!!, but we loves him dearly. he is growing too, I need to sort my camera batteries out, for some reason none are charging, soon as I can I will post another pic of him.

Up to date pics of our little dudley cheeky whotsit is impossible to take pictures of, he gets so close to the camera he is always out of focus, and I need the flash on to get his colours, but I tried lol.
Without flash, dark and moody lol
Looks artistic this one a dudley sillouette
But he does have lovely colourations.

Out of the 20 odd pics I took the last one was the only one where he was actually fully in focus and not swimming off lol

Haha, they're pains to photograph! It's a shame that he's being such a big that you have to move him thouhg. Do you know what tank you'll be moving him to yet?
Re: Joining the betta owners :)
I am not sure yet, I am debating whether to move the apisto cac babies back in with their parents, they are all female, plus the 2 banchii which I think are also female and let Dudley have the smaller tank to himself with the shrimp, maybe some glowlights or rummy nose for a bit extra. The trouble is Bisto my large male cac may eat the smaller ones of the fry yet. I dont really want to risk trying Dudley in the 180 with bisto just in case he takes a dislike to dudley (not that bisto takes a dislike to much he is a lovely fish) but I dont want to risk it.

I've heard of people keeping apistos with female betta, don't know how it'd go with him being a male.
Re: Joining the betta owners :)
Update: Dudley is now in the 180 with the apistos & curviceps (yeah I got my curviceps) and is absolutely fine, fat!!! but fine

He has scared me a hiding in the moss and falling asleep and not coming when called, one day I searched the whole tank for him, and around the back the floor everywhere and couldnt find him, then Gordie spotted him deep inside the moss fast asleep!!!
