Lizzie update :(
First topic message reminder :
Been a very stressful week (hence not being around much). Lizzie's foot stopped healing and started opening up again, she went off her food and looked generally unwell. I took her back to the vets and they have had to do a biopsy on her toe as they found a lump (after Jodie's lump my brain has gone into overdrive) The vets has also perfomed a second operation on her foot to take out the dead skin and try to stitch together the remaining healthy tissue. Worst case now if this does not work and the results show up something nasty she will have to have a general anasthetic to have her toe removed, with her having CVD this is risky. The good news is she has been going for a walk with our neighbours puppy and is thoroughly enjoying having a youngster around, this upped our search for another lurcher puppy, and a litter was being born today, I am second in line for a little girl (just hope she has girls!!!)
To blast our money situation, our youngest turned 5 and he decided he no longer would wear nappies at night (woohoo), 5 dry nights and I was over the moon, then suddenly he wet the bed twice in one night, not a problem till I went to wash the bedding and the washing machine went bang big time, so on top of Lizzie's vet bill we had to fork out for a new washing machine, which wont be here till monday. Did the little ones bedding by hand, but the clothes will have to wait, so if you smell something its me lol lol (If I dont laught I will cry)

Re: Lizzie update :(
Fantastic news that the new vets seem to be much more competent, but incredibly worrying what the old ones got away with doing to poor Lizzie
In my naivety, I thought people became vets because they love animals, and not for the money D:

Re: Lizzie update :(
I think the money takes over, my old vet drove a new jag (the sporty one) and the second head vet drove an audi, my new vet has an older type volvo estate. I had a "discussion" with our friend over our new vet, he was saying they are very expensive, yes the consultation fee is £29 where the old vets was £22, but if I take into account all the additional visits they insisted (they were insisting I take Liz back to have the disolvable stitches out) I have already saved over £30 by changing vets!!
The amount of ear rubs, and cuddles Lizzie got yesterday in one visit were far more than she ever got at the old vets. I thought the nurse wasnt going to give Liz back hugging and kissing her lol lol

Re: Lizzie update :(
It's worth paying a bit more just to have a service like that ^^
How is Lizzie doing?

Hi Star
I hope the complaint to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons about your old vet gets you some money back for doing treatment on Lizzie without your authorisation. What they did was well out of order.
How is Lizzie doing, is she walking okay now? Give her an belly rub from me. )

Re: Lizzie update :(
We need to get some printer ink, you cant do a complaint other than download their complaint forum which seems silly to me, but we will still do it.
Lizzie is now without her protective sock, the stitches are dropping out slowly and she seems much happier, there is still a large group of stitches under her toe which seem to be annoying her, but she is leaving them alone, it must be like having a stone in your shoe.

Liz is doing great she went for a check up yesterday and is gaining weight again at last, she is coping ok with her missing toe, but due to her age it is taking longer than normal for her to gain her balance, but she will get there.

All the best with that, I'd have been furious if they did that to me, especially as you say to such an old dog...
You certainly have a case for fighting. Mind you I think I would have refused to pay them!

We are hoping to get the money back for the dental work, just a case of wait and see, its their word against ours. Its not having the work done that was the problem it was them not mentioning it at all. Whatever my dogs need they get.

Of course, I just can't believe the tenacity of them. I'm glad you have found your new vet. I just think they have some nerve, it's difficult enough for you dealing with the stress of the op, without adding to it.
It's good lizzie is doing well though. Do you have a pic of her, for some reason I'm imagining a greyhound!

She has a nature to match, she is the most lovable teddy bear dog ever, so gentle and kind hearted dispite her huge size.
