SNAIL EGGS!!
Bred my Apple Snails like 3 weeks ago, and nothing produced. Figured Romeo ran out of ammunition from the last breeding. Last night one female was above the water surface, but I didn't see any clutches. Came home from work this morning, and I see a small clutch on the tank side. Haven't looked under the lid for more.. maybe this clutch will hatch!!!!!

fingers crossed

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
The first clutch dried up cause they were in the betta tank without a lid. These are in my big tank, with a lid.
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
UPDATE: the first egg clutch slid into the tank the other day.. they appeared to have not been developing.. there was a second egg clutch laid a few days after the first one, and they hit the 2 week mark Saturday. I swear it has been hatching out, but I can't for the life of me see any babies anywhere in that tank.. what used to be a very rounded egg clutch, is now a dark, pitted mass, that gets more and more pitted each day. Nothing is on the glass that I can see.. and my filter intake is set far enough away from the tank sides, I don't think babies can get onto the intake screen. I can take pics if anyone is interested..
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
Never bred apple snails so I am afraid I cannot help, I would suspect the mass being darker is a sign that the yound are in there, I think they feed on the gel first so maybe that is why they are still there.

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
This is a pic of the clutches right after she laid them.. not a good close up.. but... oh well..
This is 2 weeks, 1 day after deposit...
Camera didn't pick up the many "popped" bubbles... and sometimes the eggs are dark brown, sometimes not.. they seem to change colors at will...

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
Another forum told me to break the egg pouch open.. so I did in a butter dish.. I thought the little fellers were dead.. after 5 minutes.. they all came to life.. I have prolly a couple dozen little beings, now housed in a vase for grow out... I think what did hatch out in the tank, were quickly eaten by the loaches.. (vacuum cleaners)... so now, I have a snail project in the works....
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
Out of 52 snails, a good portion made it. Some are big and strong enough to go to the fish store for sale. Monday, I will pack up the nicest ones and take them. Possible for a partial trade of some Black Phantom Tetra... here is a picture of just a few. I have snails everywhere between 2 tanks. 3 or 4 dozen all together..
This was taken 2 days ago, and they have nearly dooubled in size since then..

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
23 babies went to the fish store on Monday. The guy I was corresponding with was sick that day, so I got no credit for my donation. I sent him an email, letting him know I donated, and also purchased 6 Black Phantom Tetras. I thought I would at least get a thank you note from him... I figure if they don't appreciate it enough to say "thank you"... I won't donate any more.. I have 6 in the big tank growing up.. and a few more premies in the betta tanks.. will find suitable homes for the remaining once they get a little older and stronger..
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
That is dreadful, I have a shop near me that wont do credit either.

Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
I keep my male separate from my females, so I won't have egg sacs all over the tank sides. The store would have done a credit, or buy the babies from me, but the guy I was corresponding with was ill the day I brought the little ones in, so I just decided to donate instead. No more.. they apparently didn't care enough to say thank you.
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!
My females laid eggs regardless of if a male was there or not, just the maleless ones were obviously infertile

I doubt I try to raise another brood for a while.. it was fun.. but finding homes for the lot is not always an easy tasc.
Re: SNAIL EGGS!!

I have a very small clutch on the tank lid, now, that will just be food for the loaches..
