I have................. omg so excited here, got my weather loach to spawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! notoriously difficult to do (according to the net) and I have done everything wrong (according to the net) I kept their tank heated over the winter to 18c and once the ice was over I removed the heater, the koi left last week and these two have had a 5ft tank to themselves. Today I intended to move them and as I was cleaning out meatball & noodle I whitnessed them spawning. I have now moved them to another tank in the hope that some of the eggs hatch.

Managed to capture just one half decent picture of the male wrapping the female.

I am in completely new territory here, I have no idea if I can put them with the parents at all, discussing it with hubby this afternoon, because of the state of the tank (water fine according to test kit thankfully) he has said leave them where then are and gradually clean up the tank and get them on "normal" food then see how many we have and move them.

His words were "great more fish we wont be able to sell!!"

I am sure with algea, and what not in that tank.. there is plenty of phytoplankton, and infusia to sustain them long enough to handle crushed flakes.. I made powder from flakes with my fry, and they did good with that..

Well I am not the first in the uk to breed weather loach, I found this on another accidental breeding, interesting read too how they survived in a sump tank, the first pics of them is about the size of mine so they were around 4 weeks old I guess.

Crushed flake seems to be dissapearing!!!

I bet they are tougher little fellers than you give them credit for....

so far as I know I am the first to have them breed in the home aquarium, but MA lincoln (if I remember rightly from my research and asking on loads of forums) did breed some back in 2009.

Not great but managed a couple of pics today after cleaning up the tank a little more..

I have counted 8 all together, but also counted 9 lol I am going with 8 in case I did count 1 twice
