I hate oscars!!!!!!!

I have been bitten by one of the babies again, and cleaning chops's tank today was a ruddy nightmare, twice he tried to bite me, I tried shooing him away with the gravel vac, but he flicked right over the top of it and head butted my arm, then because I wouldnt move my hand he shot to the surface and tail flicked so I got soaked

I am not sure, you could try them, if they dont work out bring them back

OK I am getting serious da-ja-vu with meatball, he is chops all over again, flying out of the water at my hand rather than his food lol, the thing is the kids can feed these little oscar no problem its me they hate!

I don't think they hate you, Star.. I think it is tough love.. LOL...

Noodle is pretty sweet now, she will follow my hand around the tank when I am cleaning it, but I have to have the little one talking to meatball when my hands are in the tank else he goes for me, just like Chops used to all the time. I used to have to get hubby to stand one end of the tank talking to him lol

*Note to ones self* When the day comes to get an oscar, try and get a female one!

Sexing oscars is really difficult, however my theory on the first spike of the anal fin with other cichlids seems to follow suit with oscars, which is why I think meatball is male and noodle is female and Rusty, chops however because of the damage to his fins his first spike is short anyway, or Chops is a girl, that is if I am correct need my urau or true parrots to prove it .

I've heard they are crazy difficult. Do you think the aggression could be a male trait? Or that it is down to the fact that they can have a range of different personalities and some are just buggers?

Meatball sounds like a little sod lol.

We're lucky so far with our trouble, though since feeding her mealworms trying to keep her in the tank is so hard as she gets so excited.

Mealworms, not cheap, but crikey oscars seem to love them.

Crickets are good too, been feeding them to my lot because its cheaper to buy in bulk for falkor everyone gets a treat.
