Glad you managed to net one, hopefully it'll do okay in the holding tank.

This is the first time I saw babies. The other female delivered 2 weeks ago, but nothing made it. Pappa followed her every move. This female had hers in the grass cover at the tank surface, but when the fry dove for the bottom, they got intercepted.

I took a gander in the big tank last night, and spotted another baby fish survivor from Saturdays delivery. I hooked up grass shelter, philodendron plant, and baby fish in a plastic container. I netted the baby, shook the grass, and put the assembly back in the tank. Looked in again an hour later, and another baby was in the grass shelter.. I once again hooked up the assembly, and put it all in the nursery tank. I took the Bamboo from the nursery tank, and placed it in the big tank.. I now have 3 known baby fish in the nursery, doing very well, and eating 3 meals a day.

If they outwitted 18 fish, and 4 ghost shrimp for 3 days, and I was not feeding finely crushed flakes.. they are pretty strong willed individuals.

I wish my fry would survive in our tanks, we can't put in plants though as the fish love to tear them a part in minutes.

Good luck with the next fry Smile i hope all goes to plan.

I bought a grass mat.. used for lizard terrariums.. it wouldn't stay on the floor of the tank, so I floated it upside down at the surface. I put philodendron cuttings in the matt, and allowed them to root, and twine through the matt, and the leaves grow out of the tank at the top. Babies can hide in the matt, and larger fish have difficulty penetrating the dense area.
