Where is everyone? It's been very quiet on here recently.

I've been wondering that too. I think Star has been having problems with her internet connection, not sure about everyone else.

We really need to figure out a way to bring this place back to life.

I've been trying to keep threads up to date and starting a few new ones.

The way I figure it we need to do two things;
1) Encourage those who are registered to participate some more. Start some threads and/or comment on other threads. Everyone's comments are welcome on every thread and we may all learn something. i.e. this thread had 22 views but only two replies as of today.

2) Encourage some new members to join and be active on the forum.

I have no idea how to do either of these things though. Lol.

All very straight forward and good ideas.

Well after doing my weekly maintenence this weekend i'll take photos of my fish and start some convos up.

I also want to try and get my hands on more Krobia and Schwarzkehls for breeding.

Been trying to do the same really, but it's difficult with only a couple of us active Razz

I think we need a massive brain storm to try and think of ways to make it appeal to people again. Think of some competitions to hold with a difference, etc.

I think a big problem with getting new members interested is that they'll look at the dates on threads that were commented on last and see that it's been weeks since the last reply.

I suppose one option is to go back to basics.

Scrap the current setup and go down to bare basics:

New world Cichlids
Old World Cichlids
Betta
Everything Else

General Chat
Announcements and Suggestions

That way there's less space for old/empty posts, and then we can expand as the site expands.

Could do, yeah Smile

It's a shame really, before the old board went down it had a fantastic layout that really seemed to work for our members. Might be worth aiming to get back to that layout eventually when we get a little bit more active?

I think it was pretty similar, but it was something like:

Introductions
Tropical Discussions
Emergancy

New World Cichlids
Old World Cichlids
Betta
Catfish
Everything else

General Chat
+Art
+ There were other sub forums but I can't remember what they were
Board suggestions and announcements

Making things more simple is a good idea.

I will also be trying to make and update some posts. I have some changes coming so I'll get those up when they happen.

How many people are registered to the forum?

But many of those are missing due to the site being moved about so much Sad

But we'll build back up, no problems.

Is there a way to send an email to each registered member? We had to register with our email addresses when we sign up. let everyone know the new address etc.

There must be someway to do it!?

That'd be a good idea- see if we can get some members back, like Angel, Daemon, Tiff, etc?

I would presume so, I will check the admin panel later. Have to readjust myself to this admin control panel.

I don't know if it will help, but I've uploaded the betta painting I did for the banner to DA and have submitted it to loads of fish keeping groups on there. It might get us some new members Smile

Is that ok Rusty? I can take it down if needs be.

No its not ok Flute, I demand that you immediately take down your own artwork from all sites, including your personal DeviantArt.

bwahahaha. No, really, do what you like, it's your artwork, i'm the one privelaged to have it as a banner.

I doubt having it on DA will do anything, but it's worth a shot Smile
