Just wondering what this guy is? We saw him at one of the local fish shops and he's gorgeous! Pretty massive what ever he is.

Talapia Buttikoferi or commonly called a Butti, absolutely stunner of a fish, african cichlid which are very aggressive most are kept alone, these are on my wish list along with a jag, but needing a tank on their own its going to remain just a wish.

No you cant put it in your new tank with keyholes and krobia lol

I thought it might be an African cichlid of some sort. He was in a fair sized display tank by himself with just a blue crayfish, so not for sale. Last time I went back though he was in a tiny holding tank Sad They were setting up more display tanks though so I hope they'll have put him in one of those.

Haha, as lovely as he is, he's waaaaaaaay too big and keeping just one fish by itself doesn't appeal much to me.

This one must have been about 15" long, and like you said really deep.

They had a really strange mix in his old tank when I went back last, 1 oscar, 1 green severum (I think it was a green), 2 convicts, and 2 green terrors Shocked

I think people just bring fish in and dump them on the shop.

Probably about the only sort of fish you can but with a butti, they do need a big tank with lots of room. From what I have been told by a chap who had one, their character is similar to an oscar, you can get a right tank thumping meanie or a more chilled out one, but more often they are on the mean side.

That was the mix without that guy added in, I hate to think what could happen if they put him back in that tank >.<

Really disappointed when I went there last, lots of fish with white spot that were struggling Sad
