Hi All,

A number of months ago I Spawned a HMPK Red Dragon pair (http://www.thefishforum.net/t118-red-dragon-hmpk-x-red-dragon-hmpk)and must have got roughly 60 fry. I've been growing them on ever since and after selling the majority to my LFS I have been left with three males (and NO females Sad ). I thought I'd share some pics of the fish and a little on how they developed.

Male 1 - My absolute favourite and has been for some time, I REALLY wish I could find him a female!!!!

At around 1.5-2months old he looked like this:

At around three months he looked like this:

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1019-1

He currently looks like this:

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1057
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1064
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1063
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1059

Male 2 - My second favourite. I love his thick dragon scaling and is almost full mask, an improvement on both the dame and sire. A female with full mask would be a good match.

At around 1.5-2months old he looked like this (i think):

Cannot find an image for him at this age.

At around three months he looked like this:

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1043

He currently looks like this:

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1048-1
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1047-1
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1044-1
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1041-2

Male 3 - My third favourite. I'm not so much of a fan of this guy but still like him. His scaling could be better.

At around 1.5-2months old he looked like this (i think):

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1017

At around three months he looked like this:

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1008-1
Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1004-1

He currently looks like this (sorry he wouldn't flare!):

Red and Orange Halfmoon Plakats DSCF1053

I hope you like the males I have bred and raised. I would love to continue the line but I cannot find any suitable females. I hope this isn't the end of my breeding.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments!

Flute, The second male is actually for sale. I can only breed one male currently even though I would like to breed them both. I cannot find a good female for male 1 ANYWHERE!

D: If I had the space I'd buy him in an instant. But I've got to keep my 30 ltr spare- I have a second potential male in my group of females, and they're starting to mature. I can see fights in the future Sad

Weird, I just had a look on the usual online betta breeders to see if they had any nice females, and they're all down. :S I guess people have lost interest? Sad

Crikey your males have came along well Sam! What a bunch of stunners!

There seems to be a shortage of decent females at the moment, annoyingly. I hope it's not the end of your breeding program as you've got these genes down.

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with them!

I think I've spotted a young female from the same batch in the grow out tank. She needs some growing on as she's obviously been left behind a little due to competition with many males but I think she might work.

I wish I had access to the exact female I want as appose to settling on something. Who knows, they might produce something amazing!
