Algae Empty Algae

At first, I despised it... I use it now to my advantage.. I keep the front, and the 2 sides of the tank scraped.. each weekly water exchange, I clean it off. The Barbs, and the shrimp like it as a snack. I let the back go longer.. the snails like to graze it. Once a month or so.. when it gets rather "thick", I scrape it for a "snack" for the Barbs, and the shrimp. I guess my discussion is this.. good idea, or not?
