Corner tanks Empty Corner tanks

Post by Flute Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:48 pm

Anyone have any experience with corner tanks?
I'm hoping I'll be able to squeeze a 240ltr in our flat, but I wont be able to tell until next Thursday when we move in.

So in the mean time I've been scouring ebay for 200ltrish sized tanks, and a lot that are coming up in the Cheshire area are corner tanks. I'm thinking lack of length and floor space would be an issue with my stocking (krobia, keyholes, corys, bn pleco, pearl gourami and 2 golden panchax).

Just wanted to check what people thought Smile

I'd say you'd be fine! Corner tanks have a lot more space than I first realised. With the list of species you've mentioned I can foresee any issues.

What are the rough dimensions in some you've seen?

There's a couple on ebay at the moment:

I think they're both the same model.

There were more but they've ended. It's good to know that I have more possibilities than I first thought Smile
Especially with the lack of space, it would be handy if I can get a corner tank with more literage than if I got a long tank. Only issue is how the hell I'm going to go and get any tanks as I don't have a car any more.

I also have plans to visit the Cheshire Waterlife Aquatics once I move on Thursday- apparently they do stock a lot of tanks and will deliver. I might be cheeky and ask if they have any ex-display tanks that they want to move on for cheaper Razz

I have never had a corner tank, I do fancy one because you could do a fantastic cichlids set up with branches all at the back spreading to the front. Mags had a juwel trigon 350, the main problem with that was actually reaching the back. When I went over and we were trying to remove the internal filter neither of us could reach lol

I really am seriously considering one now Smile And they look lovely too.

I'm a right short arse at 5"3, luckily Bryn is 6 foot so he can reach the back for me, lol

At the moment anything that's bigger than what they're in now has got to be better.

I can't wait until I can have a decent sized corner tank. Like star said you could set-up such a great display with a tank that is much deeper than the normal 15-18" tanks. They also usually take up space that would normally be wasted or filled with junk.

I had a major de-clutter of my house, I used to have a big display cabinet with my dragons, books etc on and I got so sick of lifting each one up, dusting around it and putting them all back that I packed up every single nic nak some I stored in the loft the rest went on the car boot, its so much easier dusting the top of a fish tank and its much nicer to look at lol

Lol, I feel a little bad because Bryn keeps saying "yes, of course you can have a tank as long as we have the room."

Believe me, I will find room Very Happy

There are a couple of 3 foot tanks on APS for about £260, which is bloody good considering it comes with stand, internal filtration, powerhead, etc.
So I might do the puppy dog eyes and ask if I can have a Birthday and Christmas present very, very early!

Yeah I've been really thinking about them for a while now. I really like that they come with a decent internal filtration system which you can add an external on to Smile

Plus they look really lovely too, much nicer than the Jewel Rios.
