New addition excitement
I recieved a telephone call yesterday from the breeder of my lurcher. They have had a pup returned to them because it has a problem with its toe nail, they told me about it last time I visited that the owner was thinking of returning her. She has been checked by a vet and its ok but might need removing later in life. They know I had Roxy with her broken neck, and Jodie with cancer and Liz having her toe removed and asked me if I would like this puppy for nothing we pick her up tomorrow then two weeks after we get our other little girl, its going to be fun in our house!!!

Well Puzzle is here, god she is cute, but I hate the name puzzle. My other one is growing well and is absolutely beautiful.
However the unexpected addition is a whirlwind of mischief and has already stood up to Kes. It took a while but she seems to have been accepted.

Puzzle doesn't suit her at all, she's still young, change it. Cute little puppy though.
As for the unexpected addition, my lord what a gorgeous looking lurcher! Absolutely stunning.

Re: New addition excitement
The problem with her toe seems so minimal, the claw is there just further in than it should be. I cant see it being a problem but I will get my vet to check it out also. She is a livewire, but the little one wants to keep the name puzzle

Re: New addition excitement
Wow, she's lovely!
How did the introduction the the rest of your "pack" go? We only have one dog so I've never really witnessed dogs living together.
You'll have to keep us updated as she grows. You're going to have your hands full!

Re: New addition excitement
Introduction was slightly more difficult than I have experienced before, due to Kes being such a fear aggressive dog. After about 1/2 hour of Kes just barking (she has no social skills) dispite me holding the pup for Kes to sniff, I took Kes out for a run, then came home and got the puppy & liz, I kept Kes on the right, Liz on my left and the pup on the outside, then I dropped Liz back off at the house leaving just Kes & pup but keeping them on seperate sides and gradually let them get closer, standing occasionally so they were near each other and its worked fine. It would be perfect if the pup wasnt a barker, which is highly unusual for a lurcher, they are normally silent dogs. When she barks, Kes barks and even Lizzie is having a woof. We have decieded on Storm as a name as she is causing a right one in the house at the moment lol

Re: New addition excitement
They're both absolutely beautiful <3
Storm seems like a good fit, especially with the havoc she's causing I love how long her nose is, and she has amazing markings.
I do think Puzzle is a cute name, but maybe not for her.
And going for walks does wonders for introducing dogs ^^

Re: New addition excitement
Well I am amazed at what a good puppy she is for just 13 weeks old, we had 4 accidents in the house yesterday, but that was because the boys being so excited about her being here and storm LOVING the kids to bits she forgot about going outside, once they were in bed she was going to the door to be let out. Over night there was one wee on newspaper
Kes & Storm did manage 5 mins in the sun yesterday

Re: New addition excitement
Storm is a lovely name for her. Glad you got the introduction sorted, must have been...interesting lol.
Looks like a fair amount of deerhound/wolfhound/elkhound in her, long nose and quite bandy legged, going to be a tall lurcher.
And yes, strange one for being a barking lurcher.

Re: New addition excitement
Mum is pure grey hound, dad is 7/8 collie (border beardie mix) 1/8 greyhound, but she is all legs and feet. I found a pic of Lizzie as a pup her tail was so long it touched the floor lol.
I have this feeling she was returned because she is a woofer not so much the toe problem. She is so smart, I have been doing a little training this morning, she will come, sit and we almost have down
She tried to be helpful when I was unloading the washing machine by jumping in the basket and pulling the clothes out of the machine till the little minx ran off with a tea towl lol. Peace has decended for an hour she has fallen asleep.

Re: New addition excitement
lol, I think this pup should have been called smarty pants lol, she is very clever. She can play fetch and brings toys back and leave!, she has accepted her new name Storm and comes when called, she is very food orientated so training is easy, no accidents in the house at all yesterday and she barked to be let out in the night. Last night she had me in stiches trying to steal hubby's crisps. She can get behind the sofa and go all along the back and squeeze through the gap between the sofa & chair, she dissapeared round the sofa and hubby was leaning over to see where she had gone calling her to come back out, but she went all the way round and the look on her face when she saw he was not looking at his crisps was so "oh yes" and quick as a flash she grabbed the pack PMSL.
