The pH and water hardness in the Cheshire area? Bryn and I are moving to the Northwich/ Knutsford area in about 3 weeks, and I've refused to go without me tanks Razz

I don't have a testing kit at the moment (well I do, but I'm fantastic at smashing the test tubes), and google has decided it doesn't want to tell me. I'm just trying to do a little bit of research before I lug them all over there, so I know how long to acclimatise them, if I need to take tank water, etc.

I don't know if we have any members in this area, but I thought it'd be worth an ask anyway Smile Thanks to anyone who knows or has a rough idea Smile

See if this works...

Water supply name: Knutsford

Water supply code: Z310

Water source
The water supply to this area comes from the Lake District and from groundwater sources.

Water quality
The water supply to this area is very soft. The supply is low in naturally occurring fluoride and is not artificially fluoridated. For further information see link on left "key facts on water quality"

Quality control
There are strict regulations to ensure that drinking water meets the standards required by European Union legislation. We monitor the quality of water as it leaves our treatment works and service reservoirs to make sure that standards are being met. We also measure the quality of water as it reaches our customers. The region we supply is divided into 230 Water Supply Zones. The water supplied to a zone is usually from one water treatment works or service reservoir. All the test results are summarised in the Drinking Water Register, which can be viewed by selecting the "Further Details" button above.

That is one handy site to know about Very Happy *saved*
Cheers Star. Looks like it'll be very soft water with a pH of around 7ish, which is better than what we have were I am now.

I was just worried that the pH would be above 8, because I don't think Bryn would appreciate me spending loads on ways to try and lower it XD
