All hands on deck for April Empty All hands on deck for April

Post by Rusty Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:09 pm

As is obvious the Fish Forum has had some hard times recently, the staff haven't been having the greatest of times and as such this place became a bit of a ghost town.

So lets try and get all hands on deck for April, all make an effort to get back into the swing of things, and hopefully by then you can all laugh at the horror stories i'll be putting up as we look at moving to a new home, Trouble the Oscar is not going to be impressed with that now is she!

We'll open up a couple of new moderator slots to help us out in the coming months, so if you want to lend a hand send me a PM and we'll put some thought and consideration into giving you a permission!
Obviously not everyone will succeed otherwise we'd ALL end up as moderators Razz so please don't be offended if you aren't chosen.

We'll get the monthly competition restarted and continue the discussion of a site overhaul and rebranding.

Don't let the captain go down with his ship, this ship will still sail!

I'll manually reset Angels password, and give you the password to tell him Star.

You'll have to show me your updates to the phoenix fish miss Flute.

I wasn't sure if you still wanted it, so I've not finished it yet. But a couple of hours and I'll have it done. Do you want me to send you what I have so far via PM's or just here? Very Happy

I'll post it here then Smile
Seeing as it'll be used for the forum, I think it's only fair the users get to see it and maybe suggest things for it? Smile

Please ignore the horrible green background- it's only so I can see what I'm doing, and will be gone once it's finished.

All hands on deck for April Bettabanner-2

Looks like there's still a lot left to do, but like I said, I think I could have it done in an afternoon Smile

I'm glad it's looking ok so far Smile The fins have been a pain to do for some reason but they're getting there. I dropped the idea of painting them as fire because it looked naff as hell.

I'm just popping out for a few hours, but once I come back I'll do some more work on it.

Finished (Unless you want changes made).

Close up- the scales are a little looser on this one because of how small it'll be on the banner.

All hands on deck for April Betta-1

This'll roughly be the size I think? Each one has a different effect on it, just to see what everyone thinks looks better?

The end one does the most for me, no outline around the fish, and the back looks like smoke.

Looks fantastic.

Even though I do like the outline on the middle one, I think it does flatten the image too much.

I'll have a play around with some more effects Smile

Are you happy with the level of detail on the scales, or would you like me to sharpen them up a bit more?

Hokay, I has played around with the smoke idea more.

All hands on deck for April Effects2

There might be a slight problem in that I've used smoke brushes found on DA. Given time I can learn how to replicate the effects myself, but we could always message the owners of the brush to see if they'd be happy with the use on here. Most people on DA are decent enough as long as you're not making money out of their products.

Depends on what you guys think about smoke effects though?

I think that first one is awesome to be honest.

The people on DA would most likely be happy to have their brushes used, best ask just in case though.
