Heater Guarantee Question Empty Heater Guarantee Question

Post by Catherine Wed Mar 07, 2012 3:44 am

Hi

There is a possibly that the heater which caused the recent incident in my tank, is still under guarantee. If it is, would the company who we bought the heater from (or the manufacturer of it), pay to replace the fish that were killed by the faulty heater?

The heater was a Deltatherm which are made by Interpet and they have a 2 year guarantee which is good cos I wasn't 100% sure whether it was over a year since I bought them. I bought both of the heaters from Pets At Home, so who do I need to contact regarding what's happened, would it be Pets At Home or Interpet?

Thanks for your help. Surprised)

If you take the heater back to pets at home they would most likely just exchange it for another heater as its under guarantee, providing you have the guarantee. You can try interpet, but most likely all they would do is also change the heater for a new one, getting any money back for the loss of fish due to equipment failure is near impossible. I tried looking into insurance for the tanks, house insurance will cover damaged caused by a tank breaking, but not the cost of the tank or replacement of fish.
