Oh My
My month old heater in the betta tank took on water, and stopped working. Poor betta began to look putrid as the water temps dropped from 80 to 70 degrees. I was afraid he would get sick while I waited for the manufacturer to send me a replacement heater. I acclimated him to the nursery tank, and moved the ghost shrimp to the colder betta tank. Betta perked right up to warmer tank temps, and is having fun establishing boss over he 10 platty juveniles. I have a freshwater clam arriving tomorrow, which was intended for the nursery tank. It should all work out well..

Did the heater crack? I had 2 do the same thing a few weeks back, both just out of guarantee . Glad the betta is ok though

I don't know if it was cracked or not.. from out of the box, there was always condensation. My other heater, now 9 months old, had a slight condensation at first install, and 2 days later, that went away, and has never come back. The new heater never burned off the condensation, and began to dispell air bubbles from the top cap, and in time, it ran constant, but never got warm, and the water got colder, and more water began to pool in the tube. I tossed it in the garbage, waiting for replacement.

One of my juwel heaters did that, I moved it slightly and spotted air bubbles coming out the top, I switched it off quick and binned it!!

Re: Oh My
So far the Betta is doing well with the 10 juvenile Platy. The shrimp don't seem to care where they go.. new clam hasn't moved since arrival yesterday afternoon.. has been kind of clammed up... I had to throw that in... lol.. the Olive colored Mystery Snail has been hard at work cleaning house since arrival. I moved the "old" Betta tank to a shelf under the 25 gallon comminuty tank. I haven't decided yet if when I get the heater, if I will put the Betta back in it, or move some or all of the Platy juvies in it.
Re: Oh My
One of my heaters went the other way and sent the temperature of the tank up to 39C which killed all my fish. I'm guessing the thermostat went on my mine.
