Rescaping Empty Rescaping

So dad finally agreed to let me re-scape his 180ltr the other day. The original scape was a wall of lava rock with plants growing through the gaps. It looked lovely to begin with, but gradually became a complete pain in the back side and was impossible to clean properly. And then it became over ran with frog bit, and ended up looking like this:

*please excuse the crap picture*

So thanks to my assistant Codie, (who is the nosiest bugger going; he stayed with me pretty much the 4 hours it took for me to do the tank and was fascinated as I was filling it back up again.)

It ended up like this:

Nice and clean and green XD And we get to see the fish much more.

Codie approves:

But Saxon (the black colly) doesn't look non too impressed.

Stocking is a mix of different tetra (most rescues from different tanks so their numbers are a bit odd), a couple of bulldog plecos, some ottos, a wild type guppy, and 4 juvie apistogramma pebas morado.
Fish weren't feeling particularly coperative, so I only managed to get these two shots of what is definitely a male bisto, and another un-known.

This guy is the only one showing lots of colour, so we have no idea if the other 3 are females or if he's just the dominant one. And yay for fish pooping at inappropriate times.

I really miss being able to be interactive with my tank (my fish are all so skittish with being in a smaller tank that I try to leave it alone as much as possible), so it was fun being able to do this Smile

I just don't know if I can trust second hand tanks any more after my Rio 180ltr only lasting a year and a half, ya know? Don't think my back could take having to set up a new tank every other year Razz

I think I'll do a little research and see if I can get a good 5 ft tank cheaper than from ND aquatics.

Cheers for that Star Very Happy I'll have a look at prices in a moment. Quite handy because the OH's dad is great at building things, so I'm hoping he'll build me a cabinet XD
