Hard Water Fish

A little challenge to name types of fish suitable for hard water if anyone is up for it....?

I'll start;

Malawi Cichlids
Rainbow's
Tanganyika Cichlids
Guppies
Mollies

Sam

I thought the Platy is suitable for hard water... I am not as knowledgable about these things like you all are... I also have White Clouds that seem to tolerate my hard water...

I thought they were south American and so soft water?

I like the killi idea. I used to keep those and some of them are really nice. I also like White clouds. Hadn't even thought of them.

x-ray's they are one of the few tetra that can do well in hard water, but I think for breeding purposes it has to be soft, but thats going off memory so dont quote me lol.

I have cherry barbs in my tank.. I have hard water.. they do OK.. not one of the better choices I made.. but they tolerate it..

Sam are you looking for some to breed? Tiger barbs are good, easy to breed but you do need a seperate tank to put the female in, then add the male late evening, they spawn over night and remove both fish and wait for the eggs to hatch

Since moving from a soft water area to a hard water area I'm thinking it would be better to try some hard water fish. In the past I've tried to keep hard water fish in the soft water area with no success and now trying to keep soft water fish is such a hassle in a hard water area that I'm looking to branch out into some fish I've never had before. Unfortunately, after years of keeping only soft water fish I know very little about hard water fish as I'd avoid them before.

N0body Of The Goat, keep them coming! It's great to see so many fish species that will tolerate harder water, Some I thought were soft water species and so hadn't even considered them for as suitable.
