Red Dragon HMPK x Red Dragon HMPK
This is my first spawn for a while. I got the pair from my lfs who have recently started to get nice fish from Thailand.
Male:
Female:
15/11/11 - Female released
16/11/11 - Pair spawned
21/11/11 - Fry Free swimming and feeding well on BBS and micro worms
Fry 2 weeks old:
Fry 4 weeks old moved to a large grow out and feeding on dry foods and tubifex:
Fry 6 weeks old about 1 inch:
I'm really enjoying this spawn. There seems to be some oranges and maybe some marbles popping up. They're dragon scales are just becoming visible.

Unfortunately I broke my camera whilst I was away so have only been able to get pictures with my phone. They aren't that great but hopefully I'll get it fixed to give you some better pics on their development later.
Enjoy!

Re: Red Dragon HMPK x Red Dragon HMPK
They're really coming along and I've managed to get a few better pics now. I pre-jared 9 of the males (in cross-stitch plastic cages suspended in the main tank).
This morning I placed a few of them in the photo tank and tried to get a few pics. I think it went ok.
Male 1 - Orange Dragon
Male 2 - Red Dragon - anal looks too long and not sure about the top line
Male 3 - Orange Dragon
Male 4 - Red Dragon - again the anal seems too long but better top line
Would love to hear your comments,
Sam

Re: Red Dragon HMPK x Red Dragon HMPK
Here are some more updates of the jarred males. So far I have jarred 16 males and there's another 6-8 soon to be jarred from the grow out.
These are only half of the jarred males.
Male 1 - Really like this fish
Male 2 - Some thick dragon scaling coming on this one
Male 3 - Don't like this one's top line
Male 4 - Really like this male too!
Male 5 - I also really like this one!
Male 6 - Is he likely to be a long finned male?
There are some really nice males popping up from this spawn. I will get some pics up of the other half of the jarred males soon. Would love to hear your comments!?

Wow you've got some crackers there!
Interesting to see how much variety there is in the spawn. As you said a couple with some..interesting top lines. But still good looking fish.
I think your favourites are also mine, they are growing really nicely!

Some absolute stunners there. Makes me miss having a betta, but after the last time I don't think I could risk it
Any plans on how you're going to move them on?

Thanks Guys!
Flute, I think these guys would be a lot hardier than any shop bought fish for a couple of reasons. For example; They've been bred and raised in UK tap water, They are short finned fish which are generally less prone to infection, They were raised in a manor which promotes strong healthy fish and they have had no problems at all growing up.
If you were looking to try again these fish (or this type of fish) would be the perfect place to start and get your confidence in betta back.
I plan on selling them to other enthusiasts by posting on forums, aquarist classifieds etc. If there is little to no interest I already have several shops interested in them and so could move them on to them. However, my preference is to sell them direct as I can ensure they will be well cared for etc.

Re: Red Dragon HMPK x Red Dragon HMPK
The last one I had was a short finned PK. He was an absolute stunner from KGbettas. He lasted about 6 weeks before he went down hill and I lost him, despite the water conditions being fine, good food, etc.
To be honest, I've always had more luck with females. I wouldn't mind trying a sorority of them again sometime in the future.
Are you planning on breeding betta again in the future? I'm moving soon and I don't know what will be happening in the way of tanks, other wise I'd jump at the chance of buying some from you. But if you'll be breeding more in the future, I'd definitely be interested

I'm not sure what I'm going to do in terms of breeding. I've already half selected a pair out of the fry in this batch which I could carry forward to breed but due to my current situation I'd have to move all the others first.
I'm tempted to move them all on and try something new however, I have no idea what I'd like to try next.

Re: Red Dragon HMPK x Red Dragon HMPK
Hi All,
It's been a while since I updated this thread so thought I should get some pics up. I've moved on almost all the females and a hand full of males. Here are some images of the remaining males.
Male 1:
Male 2 (Male 5 from above): Suffered some injuries when he and Male 1 got into each others cages.
Male/Female 3: Unsure if this is a Male or Female!? I've always thought female but looking at these pics I now think male.
Male 4: Wouldn't flare in the photo tank but I love his white/metallic edge to the caudal
Male 5:
Male 6: Has really long ventrals
Male 7: Wouldn't flare but is stunning
Male 8: Also wouldn't flare but is lovely too
Male 9: Wouldn't flare but has longer than wanted fins and also a slightly short body. However the fins seem almost cellophane like. Could this be a Orange Dragon Cellophane?
Hope you like them, this is just under half of what I have left,
Sam

Wow those are some stunning fish!
Male 1 is a beauty. Male 9 is very intriguing, whilst not what you wanted thats the kind of fish that someone would definately be interested in.

They are lovely but I can't keep them all. I'm slowly selling them on. Took 6 to Shirley aquatics today and another 6 to sweet knowle tomorrow. If you're close by next weekend Star you could go visit aquatics but be warned if you see them in the flesh you'll want them. They're stunning!
