http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/392210-med-resistant-illness-killing-off-apistogrammas/

Just read through this post (fancied a nose about see how other forums were doing) and I read all of the following;

Pale
Flicking/flashing
white-stringy poop
Hiding more in caves
Darkening in color {not in a good way}
(added gasping at the surface}
Stop eating
Spine curves
Breathing slows
Lesions.
{Dead or euthanized.}
Medications taking no effect.

Now to me, this horrifying sounds like Fish TB. This person has 2 young children and a potentially dangerous tank, can anyone offer them assistance? I hate seeing things like this. I would offer help if I could but of course i'm still banned from the site for ridiculous reasons.

Watch me now get shot down in flames by the other members XD

I remember when there was a really helpful lady on those forums who was fantastic in the emergency section. Wilder I think her name was.

That sure sounds like fish tb to me, the whole tank needs euthanising (only action) and everything in the tank disinfecting Sad

Wilder stopped posting a while ago, I think she got fed up trying to help people that wouldnt listen Sad

Aye I remember that actually- a couple of members turned on her and started being really shitty about the advice she was giving. I left after the mods started to ban people like her and you guys away- the forum just became a bitching ground after that.

I remember feeling so guilty because they banned a really helpful member who talked me through altering my dad's bio-orb so that it was better functioning (taking out the crappy under gravel filter basically). And then because she linked me a forum dedicated to bio-orb tanks and how best to maintain them, they banned her >.<

Yeah I know, you'd have thought it would be obvious *shrug* Hope I don't freak her out too much by suggesting fish tb.

She's now had it confirmed as fish TB by a doctor. Should've been caught sooner :S bloody crap on that site.

Just noticed though that she's bleaching her tanks to clean them, bleach doesn't kill the TB bacteria, can someone please inform her that she'll need to clean all the tanks with Calcium Hypochlorite.

EDIT

also I read that she got these fish from a pet shop, she needs to go and tell the petshop about the fish TB so they can sort it out before more people get infected.

I've seen her replies.

Well, so much for gratitude. And good luck killing a bleach resistant bacteria with bleach.

Some people. Oh well, you did what you could, and that's what counts.

I don't know the back story of all the issue with the 'previous forum' but it doesn't sound nice.

Some people don't know what's good for them. Well done for trying the both of you. You did what was right.

Rusty, it show what a nice guy you are when you're directing people to help others after the problems in the past with that forum.

Just goes to show all the best people from the old forum made it over to here.

We're all fishkeepers in the end, I see no need for people to argue over "i'm from X site blah blah blah".

I'm here to talk about the hobby I love, and help people if I can, I don't care what site they're on or who they are.

As it sometimes goes, some people don't want or appreciate assistance, but Flute gave it her best shot and did the right thing, and I think we as a forum can be proud to "be the bigger person".

And Sam, I can genuinely be a nice guy, but my life motto is, be good to those who deserve it, screw those who don't.

I hope my message was taken the right way;

I was genuinely congratulating the both of you for making such an effort to help.

I agree too, we're all fish keepers and so should support one another no matter what forum (or otherwise) we're from.

I just wanted to ensure my previous post was clear.

Sorry Sam! I was so tired last night I didn't really explain what I meant.
It's more this part that I agreed with Rusty: "I''m here to talk about the hobby I love, and help people if I can, I don't care what site they're on or who they are."

Thankfully that poster on the other forum is going to do an alcohol soak on the tank too, should improve her chances of wiping the bacteria out Smile

To be honest its why I didnt bother, I went on there the other week, someone had a texas with small white lumps on it, my post and pictures were completely ignored and the adive of "dont worry about it" was taken, sure enough a couple of posts or so later the lumps had dropped off the texas, good luck fella when they burst and re-attach time and time again until the fish finally dies!
