One of my Platy has a deep looking gash at the base of her top fin.. looks wicked.. she is not clamped, swimming normal... Friday, she was very touchy.. she had her babies early Saturday morning, and she is back to her normal self again.

Any idea how she did it? normally wounds on fish heal quite quickly without intervention, couple of extra water changes will help. Keep a close check on it watching for any fluff appearing on the wound, if it does you will need an antibacterial medication.

Friday, the day before she dropped her youngsters, she was nippy, short tempered, chasing any fish that approached her in any way.. I would suspect she quite possibly got too close to the driftwood, and snagged herself.. looking at her this morning, it seems to have closed up somewhat, and looks like some bruising around it.. she is not clamped.. but very thin looking.. or am I used to her always being pregnant? I will get a closer look at her during feeding time.. will do a water change before bed time this morning.

She is clamped this evening. I did a water change this morning. I am prepared to move 20 babies to the big tank, if I am in need to move her to quarantine. I have no idea what meds to use on her. She is hiding in the cave, but she comes out to greet me at the glass.

Came home from work. Took a good gander at Abigail.. she is doing wonderful this morning.. her booboo is nearly healed completely, fins are standing at attention. She ate a nice breakfast. Still some minor bruising in spots, but I think she is out of the woods.. I will continue on 25% water changes daily for the remainder of the month.

Hi, Star... she looks thin, only because she has been pregnant like... forever... she used to drop 3 or 4 babies a week, and replenish them on the sly... this is the first time she had all of her babies in one night, and I have just never seen her not pregnant before..

Abigail, and Molly both look like a million bucks this morning!!!
